I am sorry if I've made you sad, but they gave you all they had.
What you read is mine indeed,
It is the way that I feel.
You have found it within your self to judge me,
Well, when I was at War, you were not with me.
You did not see what I had to see,
That's why I'm writing so you'll get to know me.
FIRST TO FIGHT
We were first to fight,
When it came to what was right.
It was a life we had to choose,
When we went in, we knew we would lose.
I walked with my rifle in hand,
Watching over, this fair land!
A land that, I gave my life for.
The same land, as where you are.
I was young when I went to war.
At 63, still don’t know what we were fighting for.
All I know was my orders to kill,
That’s what had to be done to take that hill.
Soon my time will come,
I need to do now what must be done.
There are stories I have to tell.
I need to free myself, or I am bound for hell.
